Brief History

The Turkish Cooperative Association was founded under the name of “Turkish Cooperative Society” in Istanbul on May the 20th 1931, by the directives of the Grand Lieder Atatürk.

At the end of 1933, the main office of the Turkish Cooperative Society was moved to Ankara. It was adopted by the 3/4325 Resolution of the Council of Ministers of June the 10th 1946, to deem the Turkish Cooperative Society beneficial for public interests. The Society was renamed as the “Turkish Cooperative Association” in 1948. The Association realized the necessary amendments in its Statutes in accordance with the Societies Acts 3512 and 2908, and is still being continuing its activities under the provisions of the relevant Societies Acts.
